Making earrings from coffee capsules

HOW TO MAKE A PAIR OF EARRINGS WITH RECYCLED NESPRESSO CAPSULES

This project was started by our students with the help of Art teachers and was intended to respond to the objectives of a research on recycling materials. The result was the creation of fashion jewellery objects in different design, made out of used coffee capsules.

These capsules consist of aluminium and it was our intention to recycle products made of material which might pollute our environment. That way we can make a small contribution to maintain a clean and sane environment.

MATERIAL YOU NEED

Recycled capsules, scissors, hammer, pliers, hot glue, awl, fishing wire, decorations, earwires

STEPS OF PROCEDURE

Start with cleaning a Nespresso cap

 

 

Smash the cap softly with a hammer

 

 

Once smashed, make a little hole with an awl on the top of each cap

Match two crashed caps together with hot glue to make each earring

 

 

Then decorate the surface of the “front” cap with coloured beads or whatever you like such as natural materials like wool wires or wood fragments

 

Finally insert the earwire through the hole of the attached caps to wear the earing properly.

If you wish to personalize the earrings, you can lengthen the earwires by adding for example coloured long cylinder-beads before definitively clutching the earwire.
