ECOLOGICAL AND CHARITY DRIVES

APRIL, MAY 2015:

ENHANCING PUBLIC ECO-AWARENESS

Our youngest artclass students were active in thinking about how they can use their artistic knowledge and skills to enhance public ecological awareness. They thought about messages for public and made some artistic posters which we postet in different public spaces.

MARCH 2015:

POSTERS TO REMIND PUBLIC HOW TO RECYCLE

In afterschool activities, our students thought about recycling and their role in these activities. They talked about how recycling should be carried out and how they are noticing some innapropriate waste discarding. They decided to make some group posters to remind public to recycle.

FEBRUARY 2015:

COLLECTING e-WASTE

In february, our students, theire-waste 2-2-15 (1) families, teachers and other school workers participated in an eco campaign. We all colected e-waste, which includes electronic and electrical devices. We collected smaller devices at our school and bigger devices at the dump. The campaign (in which all the schools from our region were invited) was successful in raising our ecological awareness.

Are you one of those who frequently changes his mobile phone and other gadgets? Do you know where does your e-waste end? We  found some interesting internet articles about this topic:

Where does all the e-waste go?

E-waste: what happens …

How e-waste works

After dump, what happens to electronic waste?

SEPTEMBER 2014:

ENVIRONMENTAL PICTOGRAMS AND SLOGANS- LET’S USE THEM TO BRAKE BAD HABITS AND REMIND PEOPLE TO BE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

Remember the eco-art workshop in Slovenia? Well, we turned all the pictograms into usefull computer graphics. Sooo … what can we do with them?

Everyone who has an e-mail  gets a chain letter from time to time. Usually those messages are not usefull. Now we have a chance to send these environmental messages to all our friends and family members. Please download the pictograms and send them to everyone- they will remind people to be active in preserving our beautiful land … remember, we can make it happen- Hand in hand!

DECEMBER 2013:

CHARITY BAZAAR

On Tuesday, 3 December 2013, our school organized a traditional New Year’s Charity Bazaar. It took place in The Hall of the First Slovenian Government and started with a cultural event. Pupils of the third triad (aged 11 to 15 years) staged fragments of all successful theatre plays of the last few years. The event was directed by our Slovene teacher Peter Avbar, who also directed the plays. In addition, they showed a piece of the newest play about Harry Potter. The play was performed in English with the help of our English teacher, Katja Leban.

After the event, guests were invited to the Bazaar, where they were able to admire and buy different nice products made by pupils of the first and the second triad (aged 6 to 10 years) with a little help of the teachers and the products of seven graders. This year, all products were ECO and offered at the “heart price”, which means: they were offered at the price the customers found appropriate. All the collected money went to the School fund and it will be used to make a nicer day to many a pupil in the new year.

NOVEMBER 2013:

ECOLOGICAL AND CHARITY DRIVE CALLED “GIVE A TOY”

Every year in our school we organize an ecological and fundraiser activity titled “Give a Toy.” In this activity children transform old boxes into collection containers, to which they then collect old, but intact and still usable toys. By the help of charitable institutions we give the collected toys to children from less affluent families. In this way we make sure that toys do not wander into trash but bring joy to less fortunate children in our area, especially in December – the month of gifts.
